In compliance with paragraph 6.71 of the JSE Limited (“JSE”) Listings Requirements and paragraph 6.42 of the JSE Debt and Specialist Securities Listings Requirements, and further to the announcement released on the Stock Exchange News Service of the JSE on 10 November 2025 regarding the resignation of the former Chair and appointment of an Interim Chair of the Group boards, the Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tyrone Soondarjee as an Independent Chair of the Momentum Group boards, with immediate effect. Tyrone served as the Interim Chair of the Group boards since November 2025.
Tyrone is a highly seasoned and commercially focused chartered accountant and board member with an extensive track record spanning over 40 years in the corporate arena. Throughout his career, he has occupied a diverse array of senior executive and non-executive director roles across various industries including financial services, telecommunications and professional services. His previous roles include Chair of Grindrod Bank Limited and Chief Financial Officer of Cell C Limited. He was also Group Financial Director of the Sasfin Banking Group and Director of Finance at Deloitte. Tyrone is currently non-executive Chair of Rentworks Holdings.
As an already serving independent non-executive director and a member of a number of board committees within Momentum Group, Tyrone brings deep institutional knowledge alongside extensive experience spanning audit, nominations as well as social, ethics and transformation committees. His core competencies include corporate governance, finance, audit, risk management, strategic leadership and organisational transformation.
Tyrone holds a BCompt, BCompt Honours, a Postgraduate Diploma in Auditing, and is a Chartered Accountant (SA).
This appointment is made in accordance with the Group’s Nomination and Evaluation of Directors Policy.
